Catedral del Salvador de Zamora
Zamora
Built in the Romanesque style of the Duero between the middle and the end of the 12th century, Zamora cathedral is best known for its cimborio with its fluted dome, whose scale-like appearance earned it the label "Byzantine" from art historians, though no direct Byzantine origin has been demonstrated — it is a regional style particular to the Leonese Romanesque. A stage on the Camino Sanabrés, the branch of the Vía de la Plata that joins Ourense, it is an important landmark on the western pilgrimage route to Compostela.
