What stands there
Benavente Chapel nicknamed "the Sistine Chapel of Castile"

Built between the late 15th and early 16th century, this Gothic church with its Baroque tower houses a major altarpiece begun by Gaspar Becerra, continued by Juan de Juni and completed in 1590 by Esteban Jordán. Its Benavente Chapel, with its dome of gilded stucco, is considered one of the masterpieces of the Spanish Renaissance. The church bears witness to the prosperity of Medina de Rioseco, nicknamed "the city of the Admirals of Castile", a stage on the Camino de Madrid between Segovia and Sahagún, where the route joins the Camino Francés.
