Built from 1471 on the remains of an earlier Romanesque building, this Gothic cathedral marks at Astorga the junction of the Camino Francés with the Vía de la Plata, the other great pilgrimage route coming up from the south of Spain. It preserves a high altarpiece carved by Gaspar Becerra in 1558.
