A two-tone lighthouse watching over the channel into the Bassin d'Arcachon, between maritime pines and white dune.

Planted at the tip of the Cap Ferret peninsula, between the Bassin d'Arcachon and the Atlantic Ocean, this lighthouse was envisaged as early as 1792 but only came into service in 1840. Electrified in 1929, it was entirely rebuilt and relit in 1947. Its tapering tower of 52.1 metres, in white masonry capped with red, is distinguished by architectural features recalling the two dates of commissioning, 1840 and 1947. Automated in 1995, it is climbed by 258 steps and offers a panorama over the Bassin d'Arcachon, the Dune du Pilat and the ocean.

Getting there : Listed as a historic monument; open to visitors (admission charge), automated since 1995.
