What stands there
an oratory is attested here as early as 717, one of the earliest documented religious sites in the area

The site of Saint-Gobrien has been occupied since the earliest centuries of the Middle Ages: an oratory is attested here as early as 717, replaced in the 11th century by the original structure of the present chapel — well before the 12th century, therefore. A south transept in Flamboyant Renaissance style was added in 1548–1549, a sign of lasting local attachment to the sanctuary down the centuries. The saint's name, Gobrien, a legendary bishop of Vannes, links the chapel to the Breton hagiographic tradition of the early Middle Ages.
