Uno dei maggiori luoghi di pellegrinaggio mariano d'Occidente dal XII al XIV secolo, iscritto nel patrimonio UNESCO. La Vergine nera del XII secolo, scolpita in legno di noce, continua ad attirare pellegrini da tutto il mondo. La leggenda vi colloca anche Durlindana, la spada di Orlando, piantata nella roccia da san Michele.
