The château of Castelmore, in the commune of Lupiac, is the birthplace of Charles de Batz de Castelmore, known as d'Artagnan, born between 1611 and 1615, who became captain-lieutenant of Louis XIV's musketeers and the historical figure who inspired the character of the same name in Alexandre Dumas's "The Three Musketeers". The narrow facade, with one upper storey, is flanked by two square towers and one round tower. Still in private hands, it was sold in 2024 together with its 155-hectare estate. D'Artagnan remains the emblematic figure of Gascony and of the village of Lupiac, which devotes a museum to him.
