What stands there
1 icon known as the "Black Madonna", marked by two scars on the cheek

The monastery was founded in 1382 by Vladislaus II, Duke of Opole, and the icon was installed there two years later. Tradition holds it to have been painted by Luke the Evangelist on a board from the Holy Family's table – something nothing establishes. What can be seen, on the other hand, are the two scars cut into the Virgin's cheek, and it is to them that the face owes its fame. The museum also holds the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to Lech Wałęsa in 1983.
