近一千年间法国国王的加冕主教座堂，以纪念约496年圣雷米（Remi）为克洛维施洗。每一次加冕都依托一件传说中的圣物：圣油瓶（Sainte Ampoule），据说在克洛维受洗那天，一只鸽子从天上衔来一瓶油，兰斯大主教把它掺入圣膏，为每一位新君主傅油——象征性地延续着与克洛维的联系。正是在这座主教座堂，圣女贞德在解放奥尔良之后，于1429年让查理七世加冕，完成了她给自己定下的使命。圣油瓶在大革命期间被打碎，但香膏的几块碎片被秘密保存下来，并于1825年重新装入一只新瓶。
