Uno de los mayores lugares de peregrinación mariana de Occidente del siglo XII al XIV, inscrito en la UNESCO. La Virgen negra del siglo XII, tallada en nogal, sigue atrayendo a peregrinos del mundo entero. La leyenda sitúa aquí también a Durandal, la espada de Roldán, clavada en la roca por san Miguel.
