Chapelle Sainte-Barbe
Le Faouët
Dimensions
Flamboyant Gothic chapel (1489–1512)
Period
Late 15th – early 16th century
What stands there
1 chapel clinging to the rock
A spectacular sanctuary set into a rocky spur above the valley of the Ellé, born of the vow of a gentleman spared by lightning in 1489. A stop on the Breton routes to Compostela, it still draws a crowd of pilgrims for the pardon of Sainte-Barbe, the Breton pilgrimage festival (last Sunday in June).
