What stands there
frescoes of the Danse Macabre and of Hell

A masterpiece of Breton Flamboyant Gothic, famous for its 15th-century wall paintings depicting a Danse Macabre and scenes of damnation of startling realism, among the best preserved in France. A well-documented legend links this building project to the contemporary one at the chapel of Saint-Fiacre at Le Faouët, some fifteen kilometres away: as the two buildings lacked tools for all their workmen, angels are said to have carried the tools through the air from one site to the other as the need arose — a poetic image that the historian Roger Grand interprets more prosaically as the same teams of craftsmen moving from one site to the other.
