What stands there
11th-century crypt, unique in the Bas-Limousin

A former Benedictine abbey church perched on a rocky spur above the Vézère, and a major example of Limousin Romanesque art. Pilgrims once came here to venerate the relics of Saint Léon and Saint Coronat, kept in its 11th-century crypt, the only one of its kind in the Bas-Limousin. Three fortified towers, added during the Hundred Years' War, bear witness to a time when the church also had to protect the population. In 1575, at the height of the Wars of Religion, the Vicomte de Turenne seized the town and sacked the abbey — an episode that did not prevent the building from coming down the centuries to us.
