Fontaine miraculeuse Saint-Maurice de Saint-Robert
Saint-Robert
At the foot of the village of Saint-Robert, on the entrance road, a fountain is hidden behind two wooden doors. It stands on the site of the old parish of Saint-Maurice, of which only a few houses remain. According to the legend, reported by the Brive tourist office, it cures sick or puny children. The healing virtues of the water are said to be ‘recognised since the Middle Ages’, thanks to the unction of Saint Maurice, writes the Corrèze tourism magazine. The article adds a rite: the child is washed with the water of the fountain, then his clothes are left on the spot so that the cure may take place. Formerly many pilgrims came to the fountain every 15 August, says the Brive office; the Corrèze magazine writes that the pilgrimage continues today. The two sources do not agree, and neither gives a precise date. The magazine article adds that the water would also help one age well. A hiking circuit starting from the village passes by the fountain, which can therefore be visited easily on foot.
