Château de la Grande Filolie
Saint-Amand-de-Coly
La Grande Filolie is tucked into a small valley south-west of Saint-Amand-de-Coly, between Montignac and Terrasson. Its name comes from an old oil mill that turned on the stream. Antoine de Beaulieu did homage in 1479 for a noble house held of Montignac; his descendant, lord of la Filolie in 1536, was probably the builder of the present group, a quadrilateral of ranges, towers and lauze roofs. The Huguenots destroyed part of it in 1572. At the beginning of the 17th century, Jean de Beaulieu married Hipolite Angèle de Salignac Fénelon, the archbishop's sister. The castle was inscribed as a monument historique on 18 March 1947.
