La Vermondie is a lone tower, leaning, set in the valley of the Vézère in the commune of Thonac, a few kilometres from Montignac. The Mérimée record supposes a Gallo-Roman origin for it and inscribed it as a monument historique on 29 December 1941. Twenty metres high, a single window at mid-height, and that tilt which the country has long explained in its own way. It is one of the rare cases where the legend is recorded in the monument's official record. It can be seen from the departmental road D45; it does not open.

Getting there : Private property, it is not open to visitors. According to the Lascaux-Dordogne vallée Vézère tourist office, it is visible from the departmental road D45.

Opening times and access details are given as a guide only: check before you set out.
