What stands there
In 1675, the chapel was one of the gathering places of the Bonnets Rouges revolt. A protohistoric standing stone rises 150 metres to the west, remnant of a cult predating Christianity.

Amid the fields of the Bigouden country, the chapel of Notre-Dame de Tréminou is one of the three churches and chapels of Plomeur, and doubtless the oldest: its earliest parts go back to the 13th century, before being remodelled in the 14th and 16th centuries, the period to which the great Flamboyant window that lights the building belongs. Outside, a preaching pulpit surmounted by an old cross recalls the practice, once common in Brittany, of open-air sermons at the great pardon gatherings. The pardon of Tréminou (the Breton pilgrimage festival), celebrated on the fourth Sunday of September, continues to gather parishioners around the chapel and the fountain of Lestréminou, 500 metres to the south. But the building also has its moment of secular history: in 1675, at the height of the Bonnets Rouges revolt against royal taxation, peasant representatives are said to have met here to proclaim their demands, making this rural sanctuary a witness to Breton popular protest. To the west, 150 metres away, a protohistoric standing stone recalls for its part that the site already carried a sacred charge well before the arrival of Christianity — a sign of the continuity of places of worship down the ages.
