Not one but four neighbouring castles (Cabaret, Surdespine, Tour Régine, Quertinheux), fief of the Viscountess Loba de Cabaret and a great centre of Catharism before becoming a mining lordship. The site withstood a siege of several months by Simon de Montfort in 1211.
