What stands there
last Cathar stronghold after Montségur
After the fall of Montségur in 1244, the surviving Cathars regrouped here, on the Aragonese border. The castle held out until 1255, eleven years after Montségur, making it the very last organized refuge of Languedoc Catharism before its disappearance.
