What stands there
1 library tower, with garden and belvedere
Built by Abbé Bérenger Saunière — parish priest of the neighbouring church of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine — this crenellated tower was intended to serve as his personal library. Its name, Magdala, refers explicitly to Mary of Magdala, the supposed home town of Mary Magdalene on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, and extends the dedication of the village church into the very architecture of its outbuildings.
Getting there : Admission charge, within the grounds of Abbé Saunière's estate
