自1200年起历时四个多世纪建成，建在5世纪第一座主教座堂的原址上，那座堂于890年毁于诺曼人的大火，后以罗曼式重建，1188年又遭一场灾祸。1420年五月21日，《特鲁瓦条约》就是在这座建筑里签署的：根据该协议，英格兰国王亨利五世在查理六世去世后被指定为法兰西王位的继承人，条件是迎娶瓦卢瓦的凯瑟琳（Catherine de Valois）——这是百年战争中的一个转折点，后来被圣女贞德的胜利所废。1500平方米的彩绘玻璃，其中包括特鲁瓦的彩绘玻璃大师利纳尔·贡捷（Linard Gontier）于1625年绘制的著名《神秘榨酒池》（Pressoir mystique），使它成为法国最丰富的彩绘玻璃群之一：据说，奥布省（Aube）一地就集中了全世界近十分之一的彩绘玻璃。
