这座礼拜堂献给一位鲜为人知的4世纪圣人，像船首像一样矗立在凡角（pointe du Van）的最前端，位于拉兹角（pointe du Raz）与神秘的亡灵湾（baie des Trépassés）之间，数百年来一直在抵御塞恩海峡（Raz de Sein）的风暴。一首布列塔尼古圣歌表达了这样的心愿：“愿海边的小礼拜堂长久屹立，好让圣泰（saint They）从他的门口，看着船只驶过……”邻近的海湾名为“亡灵湾”，得名于被淹没的水手的传说，以及神话中的伊斯城（Ys）。
