What stands there
9 returns of the statue, the origin of the name Neunkirch ("nine-church")

According to an account recorded in the 19th century by the Vicomte Théodore de Bussière, a shepherd of Friesenheim is said to have unearthed an ivory statuette of the Virgin while prising out a stone. Carried to the parish church, it reportedly vanished, only to be found again, nine times over, at the very spot where it had been discovered — the episode behind the name Neunkirch. What is historically established: a commemorative chapel was built in 1455, and the statuette, dated to the 14th century, is still venerated in a pilgrimage that remains active today.
