What stands there
Sanctuary still active, between 70,000 and 100,000 pilgrims a year according to the diocese

According to Catholic tradition, the Virgin appeared some fifteen times to Jeanne Courtel, an 11-year-old deaf-mute shepherdess, between 15 August and early September 1652, instantly curing her infirmities and pointing out the spot where a buried wooden statue lay, found on 20 August in a pond. The bishop of Saint-Brieuc had the chapel built from September 1652, but the Church has never formally authenticated the apparition itself; only the cult was authorised.
