What stands there
230 m of galleries developed for visitors

A silent, damp underground world, its calcite draperies shaped drop by drop over thousands of years.

The only natural cavity in the Vaucluse developed for tourist visits, the Grotte de Thouzon was discovered by chance during a quarry blast, before the owning family opened the site to guided tours from 1981 onward. This karst passage, 230 metres long and 4 metres wide, preserves a remarkable diversity of formations: fine stalactites, stalagmites, translucent draperies, gours and cave pearls. The cave also houses the fossilised remains of a bat petrified by the limestone formations, and maintains a temperature of 13°C year-round.

Getting there : The only natural cave in the Vaucluse developed for tourism; paid guided tour, open from March to November
