What stands there
1 Marian pilgrimage sanctuary, on the banks of the Gave de Pau, about 15 km from Lourdes

This Marian sanctuary on the banks of the Gave de Pau, whose present chapel was formalised in the early 17th century following a tradition going back to the 15th, owes its name ("beth arram", "beautiful branch" in Béarnese) to a legend — presented as such — according to which the Virgin saved a young girl from drowning by holding out a branch to her. A monumental Way of the Cross with fifteen stations climbs the hill behind the sanctuary, where some eighty cures were reported in the 17th century as part of its pilgrimage tradition.
