This statue of the Virgin, cast from 150 tonnes of iron, overlooks Le Puy-en-Velay from the basalt summit of the Rocher Corneille. Built between 1856 and 1860 on the order of Napoleon III, it is accessible from inside via a spiral staircase leading to three viewing levels. Listed as a historic monument in 1997, restored in 2012.
