Built in two campaigns between 1077 and 1130 under the reigns of Sancho Ramírez and then Alfonso I the Battler, this cathedral is among the very first Romanesque cathedrals in Spain, almost contemporary with the start of work at Compostela itself. Jaca was the capital of the kingdom of Aragon between 1077 and 1096.
