A stronghold turned Renaissance palace, famous for the legend of Françoise de Foix, wife of Jean de Laval, who died suddenly in 1537 in the "Chambre dorée" (Gilded Chamber). Tradition tells that a bloodstain reappears there every year and that a ghostly procession passes through the château every 16 October at midnight.
