What stands there
No protection as a monument historique is reported in the texts. The commune has borne the name Montastruc-la-Conseillère only since 1890; it stands out for a substantial heritage of châteaux and manor houses.

Montastruc-la-Conseillère, some twenty kilometres north-east of Toulouse on the road to Albi, is a small bastide perched on a promontory of the hills of the Girou. Wikipedia's Liste de bastides dates it to 1241, without naming a founder, and both the town hall and the communauté de communes present it as a former bastide. Its name comes from the Latin Mons Astrux, astruc being the Languedoc word for a plough team; the nickname la Conseillère, that of a place called so, is said to come from the portrait of the wife of a counsellor of the parlement of Toulouse, the lord of Ouvrier, displayed in a shop and recognised by passers-by. The town keeps its market hall, its church of Saint-Barthélemy and houses of timber and brick; round about, the château de Lasserre, raised in the 16th and 17th centuries by the Bernuy family, the château de La Conseillère and the château de Campagne (1824) bear witness to a rich heritage of manor houses.
