What stands there
Listed as a monument historique (inscribed) on 6 December 1948, Mérimée record PA00082371. Private property. The castellany covered the parishes of Allas, Berbiguières, Cladech, Carves, Saint-Germain and Marnac.

Berbiguières overlooks its village, on the left bank of the Dordogne, between Saint-Cyprien and Siorac. The château appears in the records in the second half of the 13th century: in 1273 it belonged to the heirs of Aymeric de Castelnau. In 1365 Magne de Castelnau married Nompar de Caumont and brought him the two Périgord castra — the same marriage that brought Castelnaud into the house of Caumont. The present building forms a horseshoe of successive constructions, from the 12th to the 16th century, which incorporates the remains of a monastery destroyed in the 16th. It was listed as a monument historique (inscribed) on 6 December 1948.
