Commanderie de Saulgé

Brissac Loire Aubance (Luigné)

Dimensions
Group of buildings of a former Templar commandery (cellar, dwelling) and its chapel.
Period
Medieval Templar foundation (precise period not established with certainty); protected as monuments historiques since 1969.
What stands there
commandery chapel listed as a monument historique (1969), now owned by an association

The commandery of Saulgé, whose chapel has been listed as a monument historique since 1969, is today run by an association that opens its doors during the Heritage Days. The site, now attached to the new commune of Brissac Loire Aubance (delegated commune of Luigné), remains one of the best-protected Templar ensembles in Maine-et-Loire, but the historical documentation available online is more limited than that of other Angevin commanderies.
