Dimensions
No medieval Templar building identified with certainty as still visible; the village parish church of Saint-Vincent (mid-14th century) was maintained from the commandery's revenues.
Period
Founded through donations from 1132-1133, first commander attested in 1141 — one of the very first Templar establishments in France. After 1312, passed to the Hospitallers, active until the Revolution.
What stands there
above all a documentary site: cartulary among the richest and most studied of the Order of the Temple in France

Douzens was one of the very first Templar establishments in France, founded as early as 1132-1133 through a series of local donations, barely fifteen years after the creation of the order. Its cartulary, one of the best preserved and most studied of the entire Order of the Temple, has enabled historians to reconstruct in detail the economic settlement of the Templars in Languedoc in the 12th century. Seat of an important commandery until the Revolution under the Hospitallers, the site has nevertheless yielded, in the sources consulted, no clear description of a Templar building still standing today — its value for the app is above all that of a great site of documentary memory rather than a remain to be photographed.
