What stands there
Property spread over more than 16 parishes in the 15th century

Founded in 1138 with the backing of Baron Alain I of Lanvaux, this Cistercian abbey was one of the five daughter houses sent out by Bégard barely eight years after its own foundation. Placed under the authority of Langonnet in 1225 and then fallen into commendam from 1528, it underwent a strict Cistercian reform in 1661 before being sold as national property in 1792; its property had, in the 15th century, extended over more than sixteen parishes. The estate then housed a glassworks from 1824, a foundry, then industrial poultry farming from 1938, before falling into long oblivion. Since January 2020 the abbot's house has been restored by new owners, who offer rural holiday cottages and guided tours of the monastic remains.
