What stands there
10,000 to 20,000 visitors a year; necropolis of 13 viscounts of Rohan

Founded in 1184 by Viscount Alain III de Rohan and his wife Constance de Penthièvre, the abbey received an abbot and twelve monks from Savigny-le-Vieux in the heart of the forest of Quénécan. As the necropolis of thirteen viscounts of Rohan between 1196 and 1516, it earned Bon-Repos the nickname of the "Breton Saint-Denis". Sold as national property at the Revolution and then fallen into ruin, it has been reborn thanks to a restoration carried out since 1986 by the association of the Compagnons de Bon-Repos: a church in romantic ruins facing the abbot's palace and the monastic buildings rebuilt in the 18th century. The site now welcomes 10,000 to 20,000 visitors a year, with a sound and light show staged every summer since 1988.
