平面呈希腊十字，上覆五个圆顶，在法国没有同类：据说它的原型是威尼斯圣马可大殿（Saint-Marc），而后者本身又受已毁的君士坦丁堡圣使徒教堂（Saints-Apôtres）的启发。1120年起建造，此前的一场大火毁掉了先前的建筑；1575年被胡格诺派劫掠——他们把圣弗龙（Front）的圣物扔进了多尔多涅河——到1669年才成为正式的主教座堂。其圆顶因被认为损坏过重，自1760年代起就被藏在一个石板瓦的木屋架之下，直到19世纪末保罗·阿巴迪（Paul Abadie）的工程才得以修复、重新被发现——这位建筑师后来在巴黎建造了圣心大殿，其灵感直接汲取自佩里格（Périgueux）。
