What stands there
Statue hidden during the Revolution, rediscovered in 2016
According to local tradition, taken up by the diocesan archives, the Virgin appeared on 17 March 1635 to Élisabeth Caille, curing this parishioner of long-standing fevers and convulsions. The chapel, built in 1609 for the confraternity of the White Penitents, was renamed Notre-Dame-de-Montaigu and given a statuette brought from Montaigu in Belgium. Hidden during the Revolution, it was rediscovered only in 2016, reviving a cult that had long remained discreet.
