What stands there
The field where schoolgirls, three nuns and then a seamstress say they saw the Virgin

On 18 March 1896 the pupils of the church school of Tilly, run by nuns of the Sacred Heart, and three of those nuns say they see the Virgin above a field near the village; the accounts count twenty-six apparitions up to 26 July, when they say they see a basilica, which the Virgin is said to have asked for. On 25 April 1896 Marie Martel, a twenty-four-year-old seamstress from the neighbouring village of Cristot, says that she too sees the Virgin; she will report more than three hundred visions, until 1899 or 1903 depending on the account. Crowds flock in, up to 15,000 people on 19 April 1896 according to some, on 16 July according to others. A chapel is built as early as 1897 and rebuilt in 1953. No official inquiry was ever completed, and these apparitions are not recognised by the Catholic Church.
