What stands there
one of the seven cathedrals of the Tro Breiz
Seat of the bishopric founded by Saint Malo, within the walled privateer city. The traditional first stop of the Tro Breiz, the great pilgrimage linking Brittany's seven founding cathedrals. It holds the tombs of Jacques Cartier, the Saint-Malo-born explorer who died in 1557, and of the privateer René Duguay-Trouin. Reconstruction after the bombardments of 1944, funded in part by a collection that reached as far as Canada, was only completed in 1972 — twenty-eight years later.
