This Baroque sanctuary, built between 1654 and 1656 following miracles reported in 1652-1653 and recognised by the religious authorities, holds one of the largest collections of painted ex-votos in France (around 1,119 pictures), witnesses to several centuries of popular devotion. The pilgrimage drew as many as 20,000 to 30,000 faithful in the months following its official recognition.
