Dimensions
chaos of granite boulders in the Morvan massif
Period
Natural granite formation; legend recorded as early as 1854 by the abbé Jacques Baudiau
What stands there
1 rocky chaos, hamlet of Les Îles-Ménéfriers
This chaos of granite boulders, typical of the Morvan, one of whose stones suggests a bed, has been associated since at least 1854 — the year the abbé Jacques Baudiau recorded the tale — with a fairy whose "cauldron, tub and bed" local folklore points out. A natural formation and a legend both well documented in the oral tradition of the Morvan, later taken up by the folklorist Pierre Saintyves.
