What stands there
1 (statue of the Virgin in polychrome wood, 12th–14th c.)

Established fact: a chapel of Saint-Nicolas is mentioned as early as 1137 in the manuscripts of the neighbouring abbey, and the present building, listed as a monument historique in 1947, has housed since the French Revolution (when it was hidden by local families to escape destruction) the statue of the Virgin known as Notre-Dame-des-Miracles, which came from the former abbey church. According to tradition, this statue was completed supernaturally in 1068 in the workshop of the sculptor Rumolde (as recounted by the chronicler Regnault de Citry in 1328), and a "miracle of the rain" is said to have ended a drought during a procession in 1137. A Marian pilgrimage centred on this statue, interrupted in 1968, resumed in 1988 and continues to draw the faithful every year.
