Source de Saint-Méen
Le Pré-d'Auge
According to legend, Saint Méen, an Irish monk and evangeliser of the 6th century, made this spring gush forth with a blow of his staff to reward a generous girl who had given him a drink, while he is said to have punished with a skin disease the one who had turned him away — condemning her to come here to be cured. A hollow oak nearby shelters a statue of the saint and is covered with cloth offerings ("loques", rags) left by pilgrims in thanks. The site, which is listed, is recorded in France's inventory of intangible cultural heritage and is still visited for skin complaints.
