What stands there
Source of the Tavignano, surrounded by pozzines; skirted by the GR20. No legend found in the sources consulted.

The Lac de Nino (Ninu) is presented by the Corsica tourist office as the source of the Tavignano, the ‘second river of Corsica both in length and in flow’. It lies on the Camputile plateau, on the boundary of the communes of Corte and Casamaccioli according to Wikipedia, which gives it an altitude of 1,743 m, an area of about 6.5 ha and a maximum depth of 12 m; the tourist office retains 6.5 ha and makes it the second largest lake on the island after the Rotondo. Wikipedia places it below the Bocca a Reta (1,883 m). It is surrounded by pozzines, high-altitude lawns dotted with small boggy pools. The GR20 skirts it, which explains its heavy summer use. This area belongs to the Niolu, where stock-rearing is ancient and where the herds formerly went down in transhumance to the coastal plains, according to the DREAL Corse entry on the upper Golo valley (which does not speak of the lake itself). We found no legend or cult linked to the lake: only the source of the river and the pozzines are documented.

Getting there: Skirted by the GR20 and very busy in summer (Visit Corsica). One described route starts from Albertacce and ends above the lake (Decathlon Outdoor). Mountain hike, check the weather. Coordinates: Nominatim and Wikipedia EN agree.

Opening times and access details are given as a guide only: check before you set out.
