What stands there
One of the first bastides of the Lauragais, endowed with a charter of customs as early as 1 April 1246, earlier than the great wave of foundations of the 1250s-1280s. Church of the Assomption-de-Notre-Dame inscribed as a monument historique in 1948.

A bastide of the Piège, between Castelnaudary and Le Vernet, on the borders of the Aude and the Ariège, Molandier is one of the oldest new towns of the Lauragais. The first document attesting the castrum Montislanderii dates from the 13th century, under the reign of Louis IX: on 1 April 1246 a charter of customs was signed between the lords of the place and the count, fixing the limits of the territory, feudal rights, the regime of goods and persons, civil and criminal justice, policing and the consular organisation. The village lives today around its church of the Assomption-de-Notre-Dame, inscribed as a monument historique in 1948, whose great bell-gable raised in 1784-1785 looks out over the slopes.
