What stands there
ruins of the ramparts and conventual buildings (mainly 18th c.), Romanesque church of Sainte-Marie converted into a barn

Mother house of the Order of the Temple for the whole of Roussillon from 1138, the Mas Deu was one of the most powerful commanderies in the Midi, protected by a fortified enclosure five metres high flanked by four towers. In 1307, 26 Templars were still living there, and the commander Raymond de Guardia was finally acquitted at the end of the trials of 1307–1312. An accidental explosion in the 20th century completed the ruin of most of the conventual buildings; only the Romanesque church of Sainte-Marie, converted into a barn, remains clearly legible as a medieval structure. Private property belonging to a wine estate, the site is not open to the public.
