Dimensions

Period
Late 15th century, built by the Hospitallers of Saint John of Jerusalem
What stands there
Twelve apostles carved on Flamboyant panels, great east window dated around 1491

This Flamboyant Gothic chapel was built in the late 15th century by the Hospitallers of Saint John of Jerusalem, heirs to the Templar possessions after 1312, beside the old road leading towards the kingdom of France before the union of 1532. It boasts a ribbed vault with pendants, carved panels depicting the twelve apostles in the Flamboyant style, and a great east window of around 1491 laden with heraldic shields. A 16th-century alabaster altarpiece, now lost (sold in 1903), and an oak rood screen transferred to the church of Saint-Pierre in 1883 bear witness to its past wealth. Listed as a historic monument on 19 October 1922, it undergoes regular restoration work (rose window and stained glass in 1987, bell in 1997).
