What stands there
A Viking anchor dated to around 852 was unearthed here in 1871

Built in the 11th century in the Pays de Retz, this Romanesque chapel with its small round-arched windows was first a castle chapel before becoming the parish church of the village of Prigny, today a hamlet of Les Moutiers-en-Retz. It stands out for its unusual north–south orientation and for its 14th-century bell tower, where the remains of a fireplace suggest it also served as a watchtower. It preserves three Baroque altarpieces of the 17th century, including that of the choir, remade around 1660 by the sculptor Étienne Bedoy. A Viking anchor, probably dating from 852, was discovered here in 1871, a witness to the Norse raids on the Loire estuary. Protected as a historic monument since 1913 and again in 2016, it has just reopened to the public after a complete restoration carried out from 2023 to 2025.
